Charcoal on paper I usually work in big, abstract, conceptual strokes. But after Danish winter I felt a need to look inward, to focus on the new beginning, the kernel of all energy, all life, all possibility. Exploring detail, patience, texture. Almost like fanning a tiny flame. Incubation. My own life and identity are also at a new beginning. Moving away from NYC’s rat race, living in a new country, learning a new culture, and communicating in a new language. Surrounded by nature and slowly emerging from 2 years of pandemic limitations, I’m giving myself time to shape my life, my well-earned freedom, in a way that feels right. Allowing things to reveal themselves, to unfold in their own tempo.
